Candid storytelling, with a cinematic eye

“Theo was a spectacular photographer.

I proposed to my longtime partner during our photoshoot, and Theo really made the moment special! He even played music during our shoot to make it fun and relaxing.

As someone who doesn’t like to be photographed regularly, I felt incredibly comfortable with his direction. Not to mention the photos he took are GORGEOUS!! I attribute that to both talent and his ability to make folks comfortable during the shoot.

If you’re looking for a photographer, look no further!”

About the storyteller

Hello, I’m Theo 🙂

I help create a tangible, visual narrative of your day. I find the moments that are bursting with memory and grab ahold of them, so you can keep them forever.

Rather than just documenting the day, I tell the story of the relationship between you and your partner, the dynamic joy of your friends, and the way you’re transformed by the process. Behind the camera, I make sure the lighting is just right, that you’re framed beautifully, and that the images can stand on their own as a pieces of art.

I’m here with you!

There’s some useful location info on the FAQ page and you can always send me a message here or at hi@theohorne.info to inquire.

I love layered storytelling, instead of uniform digital perfection. Using multiple mediums because this is the best (maybe only?) way to tell a full story.

Why use multiple mediums?

* Film gives us unreplicatable movement and light. Super8 especially has a nostalgic and timeless feel, owing largely to it’s colouration and imperfection.

* The chemical process of film development creates images that are distinct, timeless, and textured. You can’t replicate it just by adding a layer of uniform grain in the editing studio, you have to have the real thing for the grain to meld with the light.

* Digital gives us speed and widens the range of possibility. It’s the perfect companion to an important life event: it’s malleable, allowing for instant review, it’s lightening fast and its high frame rate means no moment slips past. Plus, its strong low-light performance is a friend to all those party shots.

* A mix of film and digital options gives you the best of both worlds. Nothing is missed and each moment is there to feel lived-in, expressive, and timeless.
